On Friday 19^th January, Putteridge Primary welcomed Rachel Hopkins, MP for Luton South. 

Rachel met the children in Key Stage 2, as she delivered an assembly on her role as an MP, why she became an MP and what it is like representing the people of Luton in Parliament. There was an opportunity for the children to ask Rachel questions about her role, including any tips that she might have for later life.

Rachel then met with representatives of the School Council, responding to a variety of extremely well-thought out questions that included:

Are there any negatives to being an MP?

What has been your biggest success since becoming an MP?

What sort of problems do you solve as an MP?

What do plan on accomplishing in the future as an MP?

The children were also able to share the reasons why they really enjoy their learning and what is so great about the school.

Rachel was very complimentary of her visit to Putteridge stating, 'Putteridge Primary's School Council gave me a good grilling this morning with lots of intelligent questions about Parliament, elections and politics. It was lovely to hear about why they love their school! I also spoke in assembly about my role as their Member of Parliament. The school had a warm, welcoming atmosphere and the pupils were all so well behaved!'
